Running iRecover from a bootable Windows XP CD or DVD

In certain scenarios it may be useful to be able to run iRecover from a bootable CD or DVD. Or it may simply be reassuring to have a bootable rescue and recovery CD handy when the need arises.
BartPE Builder is a nifty utility that helps you create a bootable Windows XP SP2 CD, using your Windows XP Setup CD. You can add software to the BartPE CD using so called 'plug-ins'. We created a plug-in for iRecover which, in combination with PE Builder, will allow you to create a BartPE CD with iRecover installed. This CD can be used to start ANY pc and perform recovery without the need to have Windows installed on that particular PC.

To get started simply download the "iRecover PE edition" here. The setup includes a step-by-step explanation. This setup does not interfere with your default iRecover setup; both versions can be installed and used on the same PC.

Disclaimer: DIY DataRecovery iRecover was designed to run in a 'full-blown' Windows (2000/XP/2003/Vista) environment, which BartPE is not. We can not guarantee that iRecover will run and/or behave correctly in the BartPE environment. Windows and PE Builder are not DIY DataRecovery.nl products and we have no control over these products. Consequentially DIY DataRecovery.nl can not be held responsible for incorrect behavior of BartPE, Windows XP, or iRecover running in the BartPE environment.

DIY DataRecovery.nl does NOT support the PE Builder product. If you have any problems using PE Builder, or find that iRecover does not run correctly in the BartPE environment, try exploring one of the following resources:
